Equine-Assisted
Psychotherapy

Holistic Therapy

At The Therapy Ranch we provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) also known as Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). EAP involves direct interaction with one of our rescue horses and your licensed professional counselor.  During direct equine interactions a equine handler will be present to ensure client safety.  Did you know according to research horses are one of the only animals known to mirror human emotion? This ability can also be identified as emotional transfer mechanism. Studies show horses can identify commands through no verbal cues and can detect a human heartbeat from four feet away. Research also states there is a direct correlation between equine assisted psychotherapy and long-term decrease in PTSD symptoms. Due to their unique capabilities, horses make an excellent partner throughout your healing journey. It is important to note, EAP does not include horse riding. Down below you can read more information on the key differences between Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Therapy.
